Hi, my friend was talking last night of getting a tax refund and asked had I ever claimed, and I haven't. In 2009 I had a breast reduction surgery and was wondering is it possible to claim tax back on it. It cost the guts of €7000.

    Thanks

You are entitled to a tax credit of 20% of the net cost to you - that is the cost of the operation less whatever you claimed back from VHI or similar medical insurance.

You need to have paid tax of at least the amount of the credit in 2009 as well.

    You'll find a Med 1 form on www.revenue.ie/forms/med1.pdf
