This was playing on my mind today, what happens to those files? Are the stored or binned? If one is one of the people involved is there any way they can see the file, with statements from both sides? Or are they sealed? There must be thousands of these files, what happens to them?

They are stored either locally or in the central repository. The only time you are entitled to see another person's statement is if you're charged and that other person made a statement against you or if your co-conspirator made incriminating remarks against you.
