Lockers in Phoenix Park?

    Why arent there any?

Surely its a good idea with all the people who run there. They could be a small charge to keep them serviced etc(not that there'd be much servicing required I would have thought). If there was any issue as regards vandalism they could be placed inside the gates of the zoo?

They could be used for advertising etc also.

So why isn't there any? As someone with no car, running in the park isnt really an option for me, unless Im feeling brave and feel like leaving clothes under a tree somewhere.

    oh god yea, plus 1

    Exact same situation.

I guess they would be a security risk, from a point of view of muppet criminals and also being a magnet to all manner of idiots using them to share and swap everything you could think of.

Totally off-topic but I've always wondered why there aren't any water fountains. When I go on a long run I need to make sure my route takes me past the Spar in Chapelizod or the Londis in Phoenix Park Racecourse.

Same reason really. Vandalism I guess. Dublin/Ireland is full of scumbags unfortunately. If there were water fountains they'd be destroyed with rubbish, graffiti etc and god knows what people would be doing to the mouthpiece. I wouldn't go near a water fountain if there was one...

Scumbags win again. Typical. Ruining things for everyone.

 I used to use the one at the Ordnance Survey gates - wish I hadn't now. (It's no longer in use apparently.)

Lockers/fountain might work if they were just inside the gates of the Garda headquarters ? I presume there is some form of security at the gate there.

There is a water tap at the polo grounds, behind the stand, in at the trees. I've seen loads of people using it before...

I have heard of people using that area behind there for other stuff too

I've been locking my bag to my bike to a tree in a car park in the Phoenix Park and I've never had anything taken from the bag.

I left my mobile sitting on the saddle on Sunday and it was there when I came back.

For less than €2 per week you can join Civil Service Harriers..They are based on Army Road, As part of your membership you get your own key to the club...safer than leaving your tracksuit on a tree...

I don't agree. Obviously water fountains would need to be in areas of the park that experience high usage to deter vandalism. Maintaining them wouldn't be too much of an extension to day-to-day park caretaker activities.

Scumbags and vandalism isn't any worse or more pronounced than any other city comparative to Dublin's size. You only need to take a trip to some cities in the UK and Europe to see that.

Why go in there when there's a much nicer shop up the road closer to the park:).

    Visitor Centre in the park?

People said the same about the Dublin Bike Scheme RQ and apparently its had a really low rate of vandalism, maybe we're not that bad !!
