Hi folks, having been saving the pennies hard for a new cue and hope in the next month or two to head over to London to pick up a John Parris cue. Just wondering has anyone ever been over to the shop (prob zack01) at any stage?

The best cuemaker in the business, simple as that!
Yes hes expensive but well worth the money, was in the factory only last summer, the range of timbers are hand selected by John Parris himself and hes very easy to deal with.
Hes around a long time, i got a new butt put on my own cue over twenty years ago when i was playing and its still perfect today.
You only have to look at the names of the players who go to him regulary to realise how good he is.
But take it from me you wont go wrong.
We were in Thailand a few years back for the Thai Open and there was a guy selling moody Parris cues there!
That just goes to show you how famous he is!

Best of luck, very interested to know how you get on.

Thanks for reply zack01. Cant wait to get over. Will keep up to date with how I get on. When you work out how long you are likely to keep a quality cue the cost doesn't seem so bad. (mrs happy enough with me as not spending money on golf like I used to! Wait till she hears a new case also needed!)

Would say the factory was super cool spot to see! Legends workshop!

Gonna have to boat it over as wouldn't be able to hack putting it in the hold of a plane. Too many bad experiences traveling with a cue already. The idea of a new cue going missing/broken kills me! Only prob with car is likely to stop a few times for frames also!

Absolutly, car and boat it over, stick the sat nav on and away you go, i've done the Holyhead-London drive a few times and it's not all that bad.
If your buying a new case, there is only one place to go and that's Cheddar Classics, its owned by Dave Johnston Allen, he has a stand at all of the events and theres a good chance he'll have something at the Helix, again the case are expensive but worth it when your putting a handmade Parris into it.
Ken Doherty gave me his old Cheddar Classic case over 10 years ago and its still in good nick, he had it at least six years before hand so you get the idea of how good they are, my old Burwatt Champion fits perfectly!

Cool thanks for advice! Was looking around for the Cheddar Classic cases as got a close look at Fergal O'Briens while he was in Spawell and thought the quality was amazing.

Could only find website with Thailand address, so wasn't sure if they where legit. Had been looking into getting a Stamford one but would rather a CC. Didn't know he was travelling so will defo be on the look out (jus don't tell the mrs!)

    Thanks again!

Dave moved over to Thailand a few years back but i'm sure he can post one over to you, as i said earlier if your going to spend big on a cue you might as well go the whole hog and get the case.

if your looking at a cue my recomendation would be abbon reddy he is based in wexford and is an irish cuemaker.

absolutely first class cuemaker im playing with one of his cues at the mo and its amazing...

also brother of mine bought a custom made traditional cue from john parris and he was disappointed after spending over 400 euro on it. he sold it to a guy playing in finglas and again has spent money on another A AND R CUE..

just an option for you, if anything ever happens your new cue abbon is at all amateur events in the country.

btw go the cheddar classics route and remember spend the few extra quid on extensions for the cue you will save in the long run trust me....

Abbon is a good cuemaker and does very well for himself but i dont think he's in the same league as Parris, he's not too cheap either,at the end of the day it boils down to the player,a former leagues team mate of mine bought from Parris, gave him the weight dimensions tip size etc over the phone, he collected it ten days later and his game had improved dramatically within weeks.
One of the other players had an AR cue but when you put them side by side the Parris cue was by far the superior cue.
As i said though it doesnt really matter where you get your cue, if it works then who cares!
You could pull a cue out of the rack and not miss a ball with it and then spend hundreds on a Parris or Reddy cue and struggle.

As i said there is only one place to buy a case and that's Cheddar Classics, yes they are expensive but they are durable, hold your cue safe and look the part!
You can even get it custom made in your own favourite colour/colours, i remember being at the UK a few years back and Alan McManus was playing Billy Snaddon, McManus had his case in the Celtic colours and Snaddon had his in the Rangers colours, hilarious!

To be honest I have wanted a Parris cue for a good few years now and have completely made my mind up to get one. If I was to pick up another brand I know I will be still thinking that I should have gone with a Parris.

Defo going with the CC case. Hoping that Dave Johnston Allen will be at the PTC Final
