A question about voting

    Two actually

I registered for limerick city constituency for this GE since im a student there and i thought the election would be mid week so i wouldn't be able to vote at home

However i also got a polling card for my home constituency, i didnt register to vote there and neither did my parents (not sure if they could but they didnt)

Im aware the voting in two areas is electoral fraud and have no intention of doing such, however my preference would be to vote at home.

when i looked at the polling card for my home one i noticed my name was mis-spelt on it (Owen instead of Eoghan)

Will this prevent me from voting in my home constituency?

The other weird thing is that my brother, who is 17, also got a polling card.

So my other question is, who could have added him and myself to the register which such bad details?

Someone, possibly a local councillor or TD that knows you or knows how you would like to vote added you to the registrar. I dont think its right to be registered without your knowledge but I dont think its illegal either.
That said you should vote where you were registered most recently so thats probably Limerick.
I guess this also you means you left the part of the form blank where it asks have you ever been registered here before?

I wonder would it possible to find out who registered you. Call the council and find out.

This whole register thing is rotten!
Do polling stations accept just a polling card as proof of identity/right to vote I wonder?
That's wide open to abuse if so.

That's weird. My son registered recently, and had to go the the Garda Station with his passport for ID and have the registration form stamped there.

ill try ringing but i doubt it will get anywhere, whats weird is why would they go that far and spell the name wrong

again my preference would be my home area but ive an awful feeling the misspelling could cost me
