Metallic Sensation

I have fillings in some of my molars, one on each side of my mouth.

From time to time (but more frequently recently) I get a sort of metallic sensation/taste in the immediate area. It feels like a sort of coating on my teeth despite cleaning regularly. Someone told me recently that this is relatively normal with older fillings (these would be around 10 years old) and they can just basically dissolve/break down.

Do I need to replace them or is this a sign of something more serious?

I wouldn't describe this sensation as overpowering or anything like it so I am doubting the possibility of a particular medical condition.

I am down for a trip to the dentist to discuss a different issue next week anyway but any info in the meantime would be great.
