Hacktivated iPhone 4.0 - Now won't read sim

    Quick question.

I hacktivated my iPhone using greenpois0n and Cydia. However, now that I put a simcard in, it recognises that the sim card is in the phone, yet it is giving me no access to the network and won't allow me to view my contacts on the sim.

Is there a simple way around this or will I need to do a full reset via itunes ?

I assume you are not using a SIM from the network the phone is locked to?

Phone was bought off of Apple website so shouldn't be locked.

Turn it off and turn it back on see what happens.

    Tried that.

I also tried holding the on/off button and the home button until it reset.

I'll just remove jailbreak tonight by running restore on itunes. I was hoping that this might have been something simple.

Why did you need to hactivate an apple unlocked iPhone? when I bought mine I just put my meteor sim in and it activated the iPhone 4.

If your jb it update to 4.2.1 ONLY if you do not depend on an unlock!! Jb with greenpoision rc6!! Only that should work.by anychance did you cut your sim down?

What do you mean by hacktivate?, because im pretty sure there isn't a carrier unlock available for 4.2.1 yet.

When I got the iPhone it required a microsim to activate it.

As I didn't have a microsim and that I didn't want to go cutting my old sim, I decided to jailbreak the phone in order to activate. It's only today I got my hands on a microsim.

At this stage, I'm only interested in getting the iPhone to work. It should completely reset without any trouble if I just click on restore factory default on itunes ?

There is no unlock for 4.2.1!!!!! If the iPhone was bought as the op says from apple it is not locked to a network.

HActivating the iPhone means starting the iPhone up with a different sim when the iPhone is jb and unlocked it will activate the phone Bypass the sim lock it "hactivate" the phone, if you don't do this you will get connect to iTunes screen telling you the sim is not supported. But the like of green poison has it all ready installed some of the older jb don't. You have to do this in Cydia

If you have the sim now, just restore it in iTunes and it should be ok.

I'm pretty sure you can, think I read it on redmondpie...

"Once you are done with the jailbreak, you can unlock your iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G on the old baseband using Ultrasn0w 1.2."
