Newbie With Some Questions

I've just bought a TM 1911 MEU which should arrive within the next couple of days. I would appreciate some advice with regard to proper lubrication for this pistol. Is silicone spray on the frame guide rails and on the blow back unit (not sure if this is the correct name) which is located in the slide OK or do I need to use a grease or lubricate other parts of the gun. Also any other tips on keeping the gun in good condition would be appreciated. eBay have a good selection of 1911 grips. Will grips for the full size steel guns fit the TM MEU? From what I've read these guns seem to be pretty accurate - are these good enough to hit coke can sized targets consistently at say 15 yards and any tips on making them more accurate. Thanks. Jim

Well to answer your questions, Silicone lubricant is absolutely fine, infact, recomended for lubrication of the pistol, especially as its plastic. Other lubricants can transfer and damage seals.
I would recomend, to maintain its life, you clean the gun off, after using it, and relubricate, making sure the rubber seals remain lubricated and dont dry out (allowing them the chance to crack). That should maintain the weapon well.
Handgrips.... yes, they will fit, the gun is basically the same size, sometimes a little knifework is needed on the back of the aftermarket grips, but yes, they fit, Both myself and my partner have aftermarket grips on our 1911s.

Accuracy... Tm pistols rock for accuracy and performance... coke can at 15 yards... easy. I run a tm 226 for example, and that consistently hits a figure 11 within a 2 inch group at 30-40 feet without issue. As the meu is another of TM's generation 3 guns, I would say the chances of similar performance are high. No more accuracy is really needed for skirmishing frankly, Though many aftermarket parts exist for accurising airsoft pistols for competition, or enhancing usability.
    Hope this helps :)

When storing the mag(s) keep a tiny bit of gas in them. Just a bit, to stop the seals drying out :)

Also when loading the mag, don't let the follower fly up hitting the the top of the mag. This can break the mag lips.

When filling the mag hold the bottle of gas upside down to fill. Basic, but a lot of people get it wrong.

    Don't reuse spent BB's

Thanks for the replies. Just one more question. Is it OK to fire these without bbs in the mag.

Yes, but you will need to hold down the slide release for continious fire :)

I'd disagree.... Dryfire is rather unhelpful to the gun's mechanism. Something to not do too often really.
