Am i correct that, with a full B licence, to tow a trailer with car, one must do a further theory test?Is it just theory ? Thanks

    No. It's not just theory.
First you have to get provisional for category EB. To get it you have to have passed your B test in last 2 years. If you passed it earlier, you will have to pass it again.
Then you can apply for a full test for category EB.

Hence, that not for every trailer category EB is needed.
Depends on trailer and car weights.
We discussed about it here recently. Do some search.

and if you fail the B test are you then back to learner permit or are you still full for car alone

Oh and i see the B license is ok if the trailer's design gross vehicle weight is 750kg or less

If you are talking about theory test - then no. Even if you fail B theory test they don't take your full B licence.

With driving test it's completely different category - EB.
It has nothing to do with your B licence.

For this test you have to drive a vehicle with trailer.
There are some minimum weight and size limits for those vehicles. Check in Rules of the Road.
