Shouldn't be a problem at all! Ranks should be full up (Ashton Quay\Stephens Green\Dame Street\Nassau St\College Green).

There is a Dublin City Forum here if you wanted to do a search.

I didnt know if this was a joke when i first read it .Even a blind man could tell you that are 100s and 100s of taxis on any night in dublin .Dublin has more taxis than New York.
When you get your taxi make sure the driver has their ID clearly displayed on the dash board ,if not then get out he/she is illegal. The ID shows the drivers name and a photo,on the reverse side (side faceing our towards road)it will show the county the car is licenced to work in i.e. it should read DUBLIN ...No ID on dash ,,dont get in
Also ask for a printed receipt as well .

oisin i've a genuine question .do the i.d number and the number on top of the roof have to correspond with each other? .e.g. roof number is 98765, does the i.d. number have to be the same and if not whats the difference between the two.

The ID number on the roofsign should correspond with the yellow stickers that are on the front and back windscreens thats the licence plate for the vehicle. The number on the id of the driver which should be visible on the dashboard is the id number of that particular driver's small public vehicle driver's licence. Remember the person who is driving the taxi they may not be the owner of the vehicle but may be renting it or 'driving' for the owner so they should have their details displayed.
If you see a driver with no id on display ask them to produce it. All drivers are also required to carry a wallet id which is the size of a credit card and is a replica of the dashboard id. Hope that makes sense :)
