Don't know if this has been mentioned before but its by far the cheapest Desktop 2TB drive I have found (same one is on sale for €15 more in Argos and the Argos site says its reduced from €179.99)

But once you convert Pounds into Euros and pay P+P...?

Bought one on Friday. Seems grand. Very quiet.

That Amazon price doesn't include postage, so it will probably end up at the same price (or thereabouts).

If you use super saver delivery it works out around €92

I bought the 1.5TB version of this model from amazon i had nothing but problems i had to send it back to seagate twice as the drive failed and seagate's customer service is non existent just a word of warning.

I had similar problems with the 1GB version of this drive. The dont like being left on for extended periods of time. I had one connected to my media player and it didnt turn itself off when the media player was turned off so the drive ended up overheating. If you are looking for a drive like this i would recommend the Samsung Story Station drives. The price is very similar but they are much more reliable.

If the drive can be one 24/7 without over heating then there is a serious design flaw....

I have three of those 2TB drives that I picked up from Harvey Norman when they dropped the price down to €99, they have been on 24/7 since and I've not had a bit of trouble with them.

Presuming you meant "run 24/7" why shouldnt they run 24/7? They have fans inside so should be able to cool themselves.

Lowest price they seem to have now are €124.99. All others sold out in Cork store anyway - PC World guy nextdoor didn't even know they stocked 2TB and when he came back from the stores he offered me some NAS box for €350+ so needless to say I didn't purchase

    Found this also http://komplett.ie/Komplett/site/Catalog/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=20016575

Can anyone recommend? Need it to add storage to my Media player so it would be running most of the time so it needs to be reliable. Looks like a great deal and free P&P too

I have one 1TB and a 500GB of this drive. Both fine.

I picked up the 1.5TB in Argos one time, and it was dead within a week, so I'd echo your word of warning to those buying a 2TB version. Personally, I don't trust anything larger than 1TB.

The Harvey Norman one was posted in the last page of this thread back in November and I got it then, working fine since.
