The 'Cultural and Heritage Award' (ECHSX) offers superb opportunities to progress to Arts/Humanities programmes in St Patricks Drumcondra, NUI Maynooth, UCD and more. Through the FETAC or Mature students routes, students in Killester College and Pearse College are currently in the process of applying for university places. Check out 'Cultural and Heritage Studies' course in Killester and the World Cultures course in Pearse College. These are funded through VTOS which means there's no fees (you must be over 21yrs and in receipt of a social welfare payment). Not enough prospective students know about these courses. These are meaningful routes to higher education.

The Cultural and Heritage award is not the only award that permits a learner to progress onto a BA Arts. NUI Maynooth also accept Liberal Arts, Print Journalism, Community Arts, European and Language Studies. It is all outlined in http://www.nuim.ie/publications/admissions/Fetac.pdf

Other awards that are linked to the degree programmes at other universities can be accessed via the FETAC section on www.cao.ie

The Cultural and Heritage award is offered in a range of colleges throughout the country and Dublin with both public and private providers. Be ware that there are a number of conditions - a min of 5 distinctions but in practice it is really 8 distinctions. All modules must be completed in one sitting and not everyone on 8 distinctions gets a place as places are very limited and many hundreds of students are opening to access degree programmes via this link.
