    Hey, quick question, the replacement iPhones Apple sends out, are they activated or not?

    I don't think so. I think they need to be connected to iTunes.

    No, they are locked to the original carrier, and need to be activated.

    I got one a couple of weeks ago. Sent an unlocked (unlocked officially by vodafone a few days before I sent it) handset, got back an unlocked and unactivated model
