    Hi

I am emailing on behalf of my mother. She has been in receipt of the widows pension since my dad died in late 2009. She is now entitled to the old age pension but she doesnt know what to do to change over from the widows to the old age pension.

I have had a look at the welfare website but cant find any useful information.

Can some one explain it to me or point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Stephen

she doesn't need to do anything. the department will automatically increase her payment to coincide with her 66th birthday. if she doesnt already have free travel it will arrive also automatically. i dont know and you dont say who she lives with but she may be also entitled to the household benefits package. if her entitlement does not automatically increase on her 66th birthday or if you have any other queries ring 1890500000 follow the prompts to pensions, and then widows contributory or non-contributory, whichever applies to your mum.you need to have her pps number handy if you ring.
