Toyota Avensis 2002 wheel locked

The car has been standing around 6 weeks now; the rear wheel is locked on the driver’s side with the ABS light on?
I have tried driving forward & backwards but no joy as I live in an old house with a deep gravel drive
Also gave it a few hits of a hammer, can’t really jack up as for the deep gravel
Was thinking driving onto tarmac but the house is directly on a main road should I risk it?

I feel I’m fighting a losing battle any help most appreciated

Put a board or similar under the jack? Then remove wheel and open caliper.
Taking it onto a main road sounds risky.

I have to say I’m no mechanic, ok so I could get the wheel off as for the caliper?

i think he means the brake drum !!!

leave off the hand brake when the wheel is off and youll need a hammer of some sort to hit the drum and ease it off

Some cars have drums and some have callipers in the rear.
Give drum/calliper a few whacks* with a lump hammer and see if that fixes it (try to rotate wheel with your hands).

    *entirely at your own risk

Its most likely drums on an 02 avensis
