Where to get rings resized (and cut off my finger first)?

Wasn't sure where exactly to post this, but I though the wisdom on this board might be able to help me!

I have a ring stuck on my finger and I need to find a jeweler - or someone - to cut it off, and then resize the ring to fit.

It's not an emergency situation yet, but it could head that way soon.
I've tried ringing around jewelers in my locality, but they just sell jewelery, none of them can actually cut and repair!

Does anyone know of anywhere in Dublin City (preferably the city centre) that could do this for me? Thanks

I had to get a ring cut off and it was my GP who did it.

that was my initial thought. but the ring is valuable to me and I thought that a jeweler might take more care of it, plus be able to repair/resize it for me afterwards. A jeweler who can resize it should have the tools to cut it off.

I assume you have tried hard to remove the ring yourself....bowl of olive oil, getting your hand cold to reduce down swelling etc etc...I doubt a Jeweler will attempt to cut the ring off from your finger due to Health & Safety issues...

a few suggestions here for you to try...would be a shame to have to cut it...

Yes, I have tried everything. Olive oil, butter, soap, shampoo, KY, holding my hand in the freezer, the tricks with thread/ribbon winding around, the whole shebang. Cutting the ring is a last resort. Thanks for the link though!

The doctor uses a ring cutter which would be the same as a Jeweller would use (although I doubt they do cut off rings). In my case he cut it at the under side of the ring. It would have been easy to repair if I had wanted.

    Aw that's a shame.

I'd go to the jewellers first anyway and see what they can do for you. Atleast they won't charge you a consultation fee.

I think H.Samuel do ring re-sizing but any decent jewellers would probably do it for you.

Earnest Jones Jewellers in Pavillions cut off rings that are stuck, I'd one that had to be cut off by being snipped in three, it was a solid gold ring about 3mm thick, took about 40 minutes.

They said with more normal styles, it's much quicker.
