The same happened to my dad. I imagine hundreds of people call in. Do you remember who they put on instead?

My dad was going to complain about the lack of attention given to special needs patrons at concerts and such after bringing my sister to Westlife which I thought was pretty noble but probably wasn't good radio. I think they like the topics that can be debated.

There are two types of people who ring Joe, the brave and the foolish.

I have never rang in, But as far as i know they look for controversial topics or topics which they know will get a strong reaction and THEY ring the people involved and then await the great peoples response.

Why are they always named Fidelma?

They moan about a broad range of issues in Irish society but I'd wager dryness in the vaginal area is the root cause of 75% of complaints.

also the hysterical and ignorant, like the Modern Warfare 2 discussion in November 09, I'd usually never listen but was travelling that day and heard they were talking about it, blood boiling ignorance from hysterical mothers seems to be the core audience of Joe.

He only deals with the gripers. When I first started with a Telecom company a few years back he dedicated a whole day to us. We were able to cross check the callers with their issues and almost every one of them put the most sensational spin on their case. 'An Eircom engineer will have to be dispatched to the site in order to attend to the fault and it should be resolved in 3-5 working days' became 'I was told it was Eircoms problem and that I'd have to go a week without my phone'.

This is a little off topic but it reminds me of something my team leader said on the phone one day. To be fair the customer was right to feel inconvenienced but we were told that the fault was so bad the work was going to take ages. But she was so irate on the phone and my TL was getting more and more frustrated because all he could do was deliver the news. Anyway the woman said 'If ye can't sort it I'm going to call Joe Duffy' to which my team leader completely exasperated said 'well I'm not sure of Joe Duffys experience fixing telephone lines but you can certainly try'. The way he said it I'm actually still laughing now.

I had a guy threaten to ring Joe Duffy and tell him we were trying to hold his phone number to ransom, he hadnt paid his bill in over 5 months and was given numerous calls, texts and letters telling him unless it was paid he'd be cut off. "without warning" was his reasoning, despite the fact he got plenty of it. I told him unless Joe was going to pay his bill for him he wasnt being reconnected based on threats.

I love, looove pretending I dont know who Joe Duffy is to people, it drives them mental :D

There used to be a trick to this.

If it's a case where you put you opinion to the operator before getting on air, go with the conservative rant. Tell them what they want to hear.

Then when you get on line, give it to them!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Ha ha when I first started there I had a moaner say, you people were on Joe Duffy the other day and I was tempted to say 'What's Joe Duffy got against Clare folk'. Not good to get fired in your first week though.

To be honest I'm so against Joe Duffy I wouldn't even call in if he had a show about my current nightmare. We're trying to leave a company at the moment who ARE holding our number to ransom. We're all paid up we just want to leave. Even if the company in question were to come up on JD I wouldn't fuel his ego or his corrupt pile of tripe of a programme by calling in.
