And you are right Andy G as usual. I think we met and had a long chat in SG airsoft one day and I thought you were very knowledgeable. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. At least you will be glad to know that all the sites don't allow hot guns to be used even though there are those who use them through clever means. When the law is set below what most people think it should be, you will have people tempting fate. I am not one of those and therefore my M60 has NOT seen any action since I bought it 4 months ago. In fact I got it downgraded today via a simple spring change by Mr S.C. and now it's firing at 320 fps.

I know research has shown that when the eye is hit by a BB travelling faster than 350fps or around 1.2J it can cause permanent scarring of the cornea. Therefore the 1 joule law in Ireland (and Ireland seems to be the only country in the world that has a legislated law aginst airsoft guns firing above 1J) was introduced to make sure no one ends up with a permanent eye damage. So wearing eye protection is really only to prevent a person from getting a sore eye rather than preventing permanent eye injuries.

I don't know how so many countries (which I won't name)can allow guns that fire at 450fps and more to be used? Can you tell me Andy G? I would love to know. I was told by a friend that his country has no law and 4,5 6 joule guns are allowed to be used. Now I think that is crazy and insane. If anything, 1.2 joule or even 1.5 joule should be the upper limit. But then again I am not the law-maker. I will comply with the 1 joule law.
