About 2-3 hours ago. On junction of Thomas St and Francis St in Dublin - Red Punto - sort of nearly pushed a guy off his bike. Just heard loud "you stupid bi%*&" - she didn't even stop. Guy kept on banging his hand on the roof of the car as she cut the corner and he coudln't move with one leg clipped in. So she slowly kept driving and pushing that poor chap. Eventually she just drove off. She a) got really scared of the reaction b) was real bi%&# and just drove away.

Anyway it's really annoying. So keep the aggro levels high and don't let the drivers win this war!

I was coming down Kenilsworth Road (i think) today bout 950 heading towards harolds cross. Was in the bus lane and car outside me, next thing I hear a blast of a car horn and as im turning around I saw some bitch in a hyundai flying inches by in the bus lane. I had baled out of a group cycle earlier becuase legs werent up to it but when I saw this I lost it and sprinted after the car, was catching up til she went through a set of lights and then I got caught on the red. I think I would have done damage if id caught the car.

    War?? Get over yourself.
If everyone cyclists, car drivers, bus etc obeyed the rules of the road there would be no issues

It was good until the war bit.

Share the road, dont own it.

whichever you wish, I drive and cycle and still would favour cyclists.

I find that if you go out cycling with an "us versus them" mentality you will experience more hassle than if you go out thinking "shoopy doo wop we're all friends". I'm not sure if it's because somehow it changes one's cycling behaviour and one experiences less conflict, or if conflict levels are unchanged, and it is merely one's perception of conflict that is lessened.

Anyways, I find it best to chill, cycle assertively rather than aggressively and extend the same degree of courtesy to other road users that you would like them to extend to you. Of course you'll get the odd muppet but I try to not let it get to me too much.

I think most cyclists fight to get the road shared, we really don't need this sort of thread. I hope nobody from motors picks up on this and thinks that all/ the majority of cyclists feel we're at war with them. Nobody likes a militant cyclist.

So, did she hit him or not? Did you get the reg and report it to the Gardaí?

First of all I never fight, I always obey the road rules both in the car and on the bike. Driving a car I always give enough room while overtaking the ciclysts.

Second, I did not intend to abuse any road user or encourage to be an asshole cyclist. However I believe that sort of "road wars" term is true and is happening from both sides. If you disagree, well tell me where is that wonderland ?

Many times I have experienced really dangerous situations caused by car, bus or truck drivers and well I did what I could to show them their stupidity. Don't think it ever work, evenothough that type of issues have been raised here or with gardai or dublin buss.

Even recently I heard on the radio some lady complaining that her daughter got 100 euro fine for going through the red light. What was interesting was that some of the callers - car drivers - were very aggresive when talking about their experience with cyclists. Which me as both car bike user made quite angry and insulting. Implying that there is or should be no room cyclist on the roads.

She cut the corner so much to push him off the bike. I was coming out the shop when it happened so couldn't see the reg that well. She just took off.

You make it sound like it's a cross between Mad Max, West Side Story and Death Race 2000 "out" there!

I find Dublin a grand city to cycle in (especially on a day like today!!) - yes, you need to keep your wits about you, but that would be the same in any city.

By the way, where do pedestrians figure in this constructed reality of "war"?

I don't believe in trying to have a them and us debate (it attracts too many idiots and just gives already bad and opinionated driver an even bigger chip on their shoulder.)

That said, I would have gotten very angry if I witnessed this. Why not report it to traffic watch? They might be able to get CCTV from the area.
