Just wondering if anyone knows if the speed camera vans have to have signs on the back and sides stating they are one or can they be in plain lookin vans?

There is one on the road between dunboyne and clonee a good bit and sometimes there is a plain van parked in the same spot and just wondered if this is a speed camera van too.

And by the way the road its on has never had a crash and has a ridiculous 50km speed limit while the back road, which is windy and narrow is 80km

Saw one in Dublin this morning, looked like a plain white van with a little rectangle on the back window. As I went past I saw it had Garda written on the side but no stripes or anything. Didn't notice the reg.

Private ones are marked. Garda ones may not be.

i think the unmarked private ones are doing surveys to see how many people speed at that location, and the marked ones hand out the leaflets...

There was one there this morning again by the garage before the Banteer turn off. It was well marked with blue and yellow reflective stickers.

Private speed camera vans are heavily marked.
Private survey vans aren't marked but don't issue fines.
Garda vans are normally marked, but fairly subtly (or not at all).
