Receiving saorview on attic antenna

I'm currently getting a signal strength of 14 to 18 percent and signal quality of 100% if the built in meter on the LG tv is to be believed.
Is it worth shifting the antenna up onto the roof?
Will the picture be improved considering I'm already getting 100% quality?
It's already quite good but could be a tad sharper in my opinion.

Its not you, DTT is only decent on RTE2, the rest are "softvision" for the time being.

But they are better than Analogue (which is WS resampled to 4:3 or 14:9 in 4:3 frame) or UPC.

You think? Maybe I need to tweak my antenna.

Actually I find the upc digital picture slightly sharper than the saorview,
    even on rte2.

Could be artifical fake sharpness. The quality will be poorer though.

With digital picture sharpness does not change with aerial position or quality. If the aerial is poor you will get blocking or freezing. If you don't get these problems leave the aerial where it is.

Even with analogue the sharpness doesn't change, only noise, interference, ghosts etc.

Picture on Saorview is far sharper than that on UPC or Sky. Anyone who thinks differently is smoking something stronger than a Benson & Hedges

The Saorview picture is excellent, tried out Black Hawk Down on RTE2 last night on 46" LED and picture was top notch.Bitrate on Irish channels on Sky can be terrible at times,UPC is worse.
On topic,my analogue reception is woeful even though I can see Mt. Leinster clearly,it's only 10 miles as the crow flies.Stuck up a loft aerial but still have glitchiness on dtt in bad weather-the analogue reception has improved amazingly though.
Any ideas as to the interference on my dtt reception?

What kind of aerial gave this 'woeful' result?

An indoor aerial is far more likely to pick up electrical impulse interference from within your own house (stands to reason).
Apart from a wet roof possibly attenuating the signal, weather should make no difference.

The analogue reception around where I live has always been rubbish, has improved with the loft aerial-I'll do a bit of tweaking of it and see if it improves the digital signal.

Improved on what though? Just curious.

Had an amplified indoor aerial, anyone I know around here uses Sky or UPC for tv because RTE reception was so poor-you'd be amazed at how many don't have a clue about dtt.
The loft aerial I installed is for dtt but works fine for analogue on a second tv,even though it's not designed for RTE Analogue the pictures ok with it.Not that I watch much RTE,too much rubbish on it.

It would be, thats on HD and a perfect Super 35mm print. The picture on RTE1, News Now, TV3 TG4 and 3e is very average, not nearly as good as watching BBC/ITV etc on Sat

The words 'poor reception' do not belong in the same sentence as 'indoor aerial' unless to describe the performance of the aerial, not the reception conditions.
If you can see the transmitter, your loft aerial might work better even at a relatively low level outdoors.
