Just wondering if anyone has encountered a problem such as this.
I've an iphone4, on 4.2.1 and i'm having a very big problem with my wifi, i could be standing right next to my router at home, and the phone WONT pick up my wifi network, while my fiance's phone picks it up just fine, all the laptops in the house pick it up fine aswell.

I've gone through all the step by step options on the apple support site, it's just refusing to work.

Have you tried Resetting the network setting on the iPhone?

    Setting>general >reset> reset network settings.

    Yep i've done that!

I've also completely restored the phone, and it's still the same! :(

Has it picked up the WiFi before. or has it lost it lately? If it has never been able to pick up the signal, check to see if your router has MAC Address filtering turned on.

If I search for a wifi network. 99times out of 100, there will be no network available.

But the other iPhones in the house can connect at full strength signal no problem!

Is it a closed network? I mean do you have to enter the name to search for it? Maybe everyone else can see it as they are already connected.

No it's not a closed network, it's available to see for everyone!

Do you have a case on the phone? Strikes me as an antenna fault.

No, no case at the moment!

I've got a spare bumper at home, I'll throw it on for a few days and see if it makes a difference.

I recently switched broadband to UPC and the router automatically goes to channel 1 for Wi-Fi in which case my iTouch refuses to connect to it though a PC laptop and iMac can connect no problem. I have to set the channel to 6 in order for the iTouch to connect. Take a look at the channel setting on the router and experiment.

If it is a Cisco router from UPC, the default Wi-Fi channel setting is 'Auto' and that in my case means channel 1. When I switch off and on the router, it resets the channel setting to 'Auto' though it stays at channel 6. However the next time it gets reset it goes back to Channel 1 at which stage I have to manually put it back to Channel 6.

Thanks for the reply about switching the channels I'll give that a try and see if it's set wrong!

I restored it as a new phone, and then put my back up on it to restore my contacts??

I also had this problem with my iPhone 4, and as some posted have suggested it was down to the channel my router was using.

IIRC, I had it on AUTO and once I changed to a specific channel (sorry can't remember off the top of my head which it was, perhaps 7), problem went away.

Is it not funny that any other iphone that come's in to range of the network can connect with no problems?
