So I read this morning in the times, sorry no link im on a phone. The coffin is to be exhumed so that the faithful can pray before it when he's beatified.

Just wondering if this is par for the course? Is it a case of the corporeal remains having ton be present for the ceremony?

Offhand it could be true and a standard procedure, in that the Church has a tradition of venerating holy relics.

yes it's pretty standard procedure, assuming the remains are available.
