When do the first results come in and what time would you expect it to go on till?

I'm no expert but I've worked on a few counts. They usually start coming in late afternoon/early evening iirc but actual complete results will take some time with eliminations, surplus distributions and so on. I don't know if counts will have a curfew. i.e. will they have to stop at 2 a.m. and come back the following morning? Many will finish before any kind of curfew comes in to play but I would expect the whole thing to take a day or two.

Counting will start at 9AM.First count results in 3 seater constituencies should be declared by late afternoon although the tallymen should have a good idea of the outcome by lunchtime.

Depending on how things are going in the fight for last seats(recounts etc)it could be a few days before all seats are filled.

Im off to the RDS for the count, it starts at 9AM. Some counts can go on well into the night i.e. 4AM.

Does anybody know if an average joe soap can rock up to the RDS on Saturday to witness the count? Or do you need to be affiliated with Candidates/Media/etc. Wouldn't mind getting a look at how it's done in person. Also, I am assuming that the Dún Laoghaire count will take place in RDS also?

Pretty sure you need some kind of permission to enter either by association with a party or as staff on the day.

The count for Dun Laoghaire is in Loughlinstown Leisure Centre.

    Dublin County Counts
    Dublin City Counts

Thanks very much for that info. Might rack up to Loughlinstown on Saturday at some stage to soak in the atmosphere and chance my arm to get in, even just to have a quick look.
