I've been asked to attend for a pre-employment medical assessment with MedMark. Has anyone had a similar type of assessment with this company before - what do they do/ask? In particular, do they ask you who your GP is, and do they typically request a report from your GP?

I had one last week. They asked me for gps name but don't contact them.

It involved a questionaire, weight and height, eye test, hearing test, urine test, blood pressure check, doctor listened to my heart and lungs and then made me do some bends forwards, backwards and sideways.

Then told me he would sign me as fit for the job and would contact the company to tell them.

I think the specifics of it depend on the role.

They might ask who your gp is and note it on the file. The medical test is just a number of tests and questions and the doctor gets paid well for filling out the report.

One common reason for a medical is for group life assurance. Depending on the amount of cover and your age you might be required to do more tests, e.g. they could check your extremities for lumps or ask you to take a urine test. I doubt they will take bloods without telling you before hand.

Your employer cannot get information from your gp without your permission. Depending on the results of your medical it's possible your employer will want further info from your gp.
