Transfering tax credits no P60

I have more than one source of income, but have taken a career break from my 'day' job in the hse. Unfortunately although I am no longer receiving HSE income, my tax credits are still with them.

I know in ordinary life all I have to do is send in my P60 to revenue and the credits can be sorted. But the HSE being the HSE tell me that due to shortage of staff my P60 will be sent out 'when they get around to it'.

Is there any other way revenue can transfer the credits given this situation?this is costing me a fortune each month. (The fact that I can claim it back is of no help to my bank balance :()

If you know your PPS number, I think it is possible to ring your local Revenue office and ask them to allocate credits/ cut-off point to your other job.
They will send out updated data to all employers and you should see the effect in your next paycheck (assuming the employer updates your details on his/her payroll system).

Are you sure that its that simple? (I'm not doubting you just that I'm suspicious when things appear to be too straightforward).

This Revenue webpage might be of relevance:

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/personal/faqs/overtime-bonuses-second-jobs.htmll#section4

There are also some examples of a hypothetical employee on that page which may be similar to you own case.

Thanks for that namenotavailable. I can't see anything about not having a P60 though. As far as I know tax credit certs are issued when revenue receive P60s.

As far as I know tax credit certs are issued when revenue receive P60s.

Not correct, as far as I am aware- typically, tax certs are issued in January or February by the Revenue Commissioners before employers have submitted their P35 summaries. See pgh 3.3 of this re the issue of certs on an 'ongoing basis':

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it11.html#section3

Assuming that you were employed in 2010, the Revenue Commissioners will have basic details about you. You should be able to contact them to request a reallocation of tax credits as per the previous post. At a minimum, it's worth a shot- they won't bite (I think! :-))

I've reallocated my credits between employers mid year and between spouse and myself during mid year. Simply write to revenue and tell them what breakout you require, they might accept a phone call but usually they like these things in writing. The issue of tax credit certs have nothing to do with issuing of P60s. Revenue issue the tax credit certs each year for every employee on record as having an employer. When Revenue receives the info from P60s (in the form of a P35 from the employer) they don't then use that to change your credits or even give you a refund/demand if you don't actually ask for a balancing statement. After you've asked Revenue to reallocate your credits, check with your new employer that he has received the info and has processed it. Any tax rebate you are entitled to since Jan 2011 will be handled through the payroll. Anything prior to 01 Jan 2011, needs to be tackled through Revenue itself in form of a balancing statement (P21).

secondly, HSE are obliged to provide you with P60 by 15th Feb each year. Just because they are govt dept they shouldn't be able to get away with not providing it on time. Like every company we too are down staff but I'm sure if we gave that excuse to an employee, Revenue would find a way to impose a fine on us.

While you are on the phone to them, you should see about claiming for anything else you may be entitled to e.g. bin charges you paid last year, rent relief, tuition fees and so on.
Almost everyone will be able to claim additional tax credits for something.
If you have incurred any medical expenses such as prescriptions, doctor visits and so on, you can list them on a Med1 form and send them to the Revenue to claim 20% back. Definitely worth the effort! I claimed back a considerable amount last year and it paid for a holiday!:p

rang the hse payroll every week for the last 3 weeks: "itll come out this week". after waiting at least 20-30 mins on hold every time, the person at the end does not even bother asking what my payroll number is.

"itll come out this week, goodbye".

im ashamed to have worked in the hse, and to need to work in it again.

they wont even entertain the fact that certain important papers will not be issued to me until i submit my p60.
i tried going down to the local tax office "HSE have not send anything to revenue yet, nothing we can do for you"

wonder could you take a case to the Ombudsman for HSE denying you your statutory paperwork and therefore any rebates you might be entitled to based on your P60 info.

thesimpsons, you really have to see what payments and payroll are capable of. Honestly its not worth it. On two occasions payroll somehow forgot to pay me, once for a month, the second time for 6 weeks!!!! They couldn't have cared less.

On the second time where they didn't pay me for 6 weeks I had to camp out in Dr Steevens to get a cheque- I waited from 10 am to 3.30.

I even gave up trying to find out if I was on the correct salary-after about 6 months of trying to sort it. (In fairness that was payroll not payments).

At least the guy who tried to sort my P60 was courteous. ( I do believe that they are short staffed but they don't do you any favours really)
