    Hi Guys,

My mother is looking at moving to UPC and getting rid of Sky and Eircom.
Is it possible to move and switch the phone to UPC but keep the eircom phonewatch or does your phone also have to be with eircom.

    Cheers,

I have a monitored alarm system (not Phonewatch) and was told it wouldn't work with the UPC phone. The sales guy did say I could by a GSM card and install it in the alarm and that would call me instead of the Eircom line but that would cost a couple of hundred quid which would take a few years for me to get back based on the savings I'd make with UPC

Call Phonewatch about it. They install a GSM box that means the alarm unit calls them using GSM rather than the UPC 'landline'. It costs €140 to have it installed. It's a pretty big beige unit that sits beside or close to the alarm unit she currently has installed.
