Birthday presents

Right so its my birthday tomorrow (24..gettin old ) and a few people asked what I wanted for my birthday. I said I don't need anything. They said, "Ah come on, everybody says they don't want anything but they really do". But I genuinely don't want presents. I don't need anything and I don't want people to feel they have to buy me something especially when times might be tough. I've arranged to go down to the Porterhouse tomorrow night and all I really want is for my friends to come along and have a good night and thats it.


So when its your birthday, are you the type of person who doesn't mind whether or not you get presents, or would you go mental if nobody got you anything except a card?

Wouldn't bother me in the least if I didn't get a present.

For my 21st my close friends and family got me sentimental things to remember it by but I asked people to give something to Irish Cancer Society instead of buying me things. Thats the response I usually give to people if they ask what I want cuz I genuinely don't need anything. My bf always buys me something nice and my brothers usually spot me drinks for a night / throw a few quid in a card but I dont expect want or ask for anything.

I dont get anyone presents so expect nothing from anybody (that includes xmas) If somebody gets me a present i deem it an intentional guilt trip.

I think this only applies to women. I don't know any guy who's been offended because he didn't get a present for Birthday/Christmas/Valentine's, etc. etc.

Back to the present...just get your mates to buy you drinks all night.

My birthday is in a few days time. Not bothered really whether I get presents now or not but would like a card or the odd text to wish me a happy birthday! Just like people to actually remember it! A present is a nice thought that's all, I don't expect to get anymore as I don't really get that many these days as I am getting older. Approaching my late 20's so its no big deal regarding presents. Be nice to just get one I like or get mulah to spend on i'm not mad on pointless gifts but its the thought that counts is what matters a card would do me regardless! Not that I get many now, was my 21st was the last time I remember getting a load of birthday cards. Other family members have taken the spotlight over me so they end up getting all the presents! Thats cool with me. I like to get out of the limelight and not wanting to be reminded that I'm getting old! Enjoy life and celebrate my birthday in style is enough for me!

I always say and genuinely think I mean that I don't want them, then every year my birthday is a total anticlimax and load of rubbish. It's not so much presents, a nice dinner out or something like that would be appreciated

I would go mental if my family did not buy me what I wanted for my birthday. It is only once a year after all. I buy them what the want.
