iPod touch - registering problem

    Just a quick question..
    Bought an ipod touch...
    Went throught the whole registering process and cant get past the add a credit card bit.. it wont accept a laser card and doesnt have a paypal option.
    All i want to do is sync it with my exsiting itunes library and get my music on there for heavens sake..
    Do you absolutely HAVE to register a credit card?

    At what point does it ask for it ? The normal setup doesn't require an iTunes account afaik ? Here's a setup guide that explains the process, no sign of credit card details !

    I already have itunes set up on my pc with an ipod registered to it.
    It wants me to register the new ipod touch as a new device and i cant get past the credit card details part. (dont have card so suppose i will have to get a 3v to sort this out)
