Baby, baby, baby, NO! - Justin Bieber: abortion is `like killing a baby`

February 16, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a soon-to-be-published interview with Rolling Stone, teen idol Justin Bieber revealed that he shares something in common with a growing number of young people in the United States - he is pro-life.

“I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber told contributing editor Vanessa Grigoriadis. “It’s like killing a baby?”

When pressed as to whether he opposes abortion in the case of rape, the young singer replied, “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

Canadian-born Bieber’s conviction evidently has nothing to do with party politics, as he revealed when asked who he would support when he’s old enough to vote. “I’m not sure about the parties. But whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad,” he said.

Erik Whittington of the pro-life organization Rock for Life said Bieber’s remarks are “Great news” since he “has huge influence on young people.”

At the same time he questioned Bieber’s hedging on the question of rape. “Justin, I thought you said, ‘It’s like killing a baby?’ If it is, which it is that what is the problem? Why the hesitation? How come it’s OK to judge other situations but not this one?”

    More here.

He's 16 years old. I think he's a bit young for his opinions on these kind of matters to be taken seriously. If he's talking about hairstyles or girls or music he could be considered to have an opinion worth listening to, but when it comes to abortion, he should probably be given a little slack.

Ironic, considering he is one of the best pro-choice arguments you will ever see.

    What would Bieber do?

Seriously, who is this punk? I see him everywhere all of a sudden.

Mr. Craddock: He's the latest pop tartlet.

To the other poster, his views are valid. Remember what Our Blessed Lord said about children? The Kingdom belongs to little children, so the views of children, or teenagers are not to be dismissed because of age or lack of experience. It is the case that the young intuit the true, the good, and the beautiful before the distortions of personal sin come in and mess things up big time.

Wasn't it in Timothy or somewhere else in the New Testament that it says not to dismiss the young?

As St. Benedict said in his Rule, the young should be listened to, or something like that.

Oh I used to hate not being taken 'serious' about 'serious and very adult' issues when I was only sixteen..Luckily I had a mum who listened and corrected and above all 'talked' attentively to us....it's very possible to form an opinon at sixteen? No?

..especially if the only 'issues' I should have was what 'hairstyle' I have or 'boys' I like, or the latest 'music' I like, believe it or not that is not what is on every sixteen year olds mind..( well not the 'only' and most 'pressing' issues )....how fickle is that view....we were all 'sixteen' at one stage ...with a bit of luck.

The guy ( sorry don't know who he is...*yikes* oldy that I am ) said what he thinks 'now'.....fair play to him imo! At sixteen he must at least know there are 'alternative' views...

He's as entitled to speak as anybody else..or is there a valid arguement that doesn't resort to the same, 'he's only sixteen' arguement, that says he is not?

Perhaps he should wear a muzzle?

No thanks! Fair play to the young lad for being confident and formed..

As thick as two very thick short planks.

For any pro-life or pro-choice orginisation to use him as an example is a bit of a joke tbh.

You don't know the context in which he made those comments - he could have made that comment tongue in cheek. You can't tell from an interview on a website.

What context does that statement sound informed to you.

If you have an opinion on abortion fair enough but to try and use the position of a kid who doesn't know his arse from his elbow as an informed opinion, it does your own opinion an injustice.

In the context of American politics, it sounds very well informed indeed. Sarah Palin, watch your back!

Well, this country flawed as it is was built on 'lads' who in others opinion didn't know their 'arse from their elbow'...

Show me a 'so called' adult who knows 'everything' and your view stands; but as it stands we quarrel about very silly things sometimes....some of which even make our 'sixteen' year old blush believe it or no..

At sixteen the world is brand new, ready to let you write on it; the way it should be....

..nobody deserves to be told they should get back in their box by a so called 'adult' unless the 'adult' claims they know all? So prove it?

We encourage and give hope, the end!

..gather followers etc. etc. or else you're just another voice in the crowd of people who are paranoid and age'ist..we don't 'own' the world we pass it on. Make peace with that. It helps, acceptance is part of faith.

I think this may be taken a little out of context.
A lot of young people like to use the word LIKE at the beginning and middle of sentences.
If you take the word like out of the quote it might sound a little like this,
I really don’t believe in abortion, It’s killing a baby.

16 year olds are entitled to have opinions, even when they're wrong.

Only thing to be learned from this is that the Rolling stone contributing editor Vanessa Grigoriadis is a gutter journalist. What a ridiculous line of questioning to bring to a 16 year old kid who is famous for pop music. He should have ended the interview there and then and lost her an exclusive.

I think he should have been aborted!!we should legalize abortion!!!:D:D:D

What an awful thing to say. Read the charter and stick by it.

Actually, scrap that. The user has a total of 2 posts, and both are an obvious attempt at trolling. Perma ban issued because I've gone mad with the power.

..and yet if it came to two sixteen year olds actually having sex it would all be normal and fine, right?

I read it as a joke, after a previous internet poll 'fix' where Beiber fans got to choose a city to ad to his tour and the winning concert was chosen as Pyongyang, North Korea.
