02 Ford mondeo issue with ERV Valve

To anyone out there in the know.

I have a 02 Ford mondeo 2.0 litre petrol. The engine Management light is staying on. I got it checked out at Advanced Pitstop, they used a handheld PC to decode the error. I was told that the Exhaust Recirculation Valve is the cause of the issue.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get the valve taken off and cleaned and replaced, instead of coughing up for a new one, I was quoted €180 for a new one ???.

Also my car needs a 10 year service, within the next week or so. Can anyone recommend prices and location within the North Dublin area that they would recommend.

    Cheers guys

I got away with giving it a good clean using tinners and brake cleaner with some elbow grease. I deleted the fault goods and gave it a good spin. The car was running perfect. If you have to get a new one just tell them its the EGR valve(Exhaust gas recirculation)

Yeah just disconnect the plug and they are two 8mm bolts and two 10mm nuts.(I think) When you open up the bonnet its there at the front left as your looking in. You'll see the pipe running around the front from it.

Can anyone tell me how much I would be expected to pay for the ERV valve to be replaced in my 02 mondeo Petrol.

I tried cleaning it out but the fault has returned, I was best advised to get it replaced.

Basically im looking for a price, any ideas.....

    Cheers
