    Hi All,
Action Photography Ltd. (i.e. John Shiels), is exhibiting a selection of Adventure Sports Photos in the Basecamp store on Middle Abbey Street, Dublin1 from the 23rd to the 26th of February (next Wednesday to Saturday).

The exhibition will be officially opened on Wednesday next 23 February at 18.30 hrs by Irish Olympic Athlete, former World Rowing Champion, and Trans-Atlantic adventurer Gearoid Towey. Everyone is welcome to attend.

For those of you who haven’t heard of me I am a professional photographer specialising in adventure sports photography.

See you all next week :)
    John

Brilliant! John is well-known to everyone who runs IMRA as the guy who (voluntarily) produces all those amazing photos of us gasping up, and flying down, the hills. Best of luck with your exhibition, hope to get in and see it.

John has given so much of his free time to capture runners over the years, best of luck to him working as a pro.

Let's build this up to next Wednesday, anyone want to post a particular John Shields photo that they like, with a few words why they like it? (I've asked John about this, he's cool with it).

One of my favourites is this one from Annacurra last year, Kiwirunner and PeterX, two of the most chilled out guys you could meet outside a race, locked in battle while racing.

Definitely going to pop along to this, your pictures are in a league of their own and the one thing I see in nearly every shot is the happiness that the runner is experiencing right there and then. Best of luck with it.

I like the simplicity of this one. Kiwirunner again.

This one does it for me. Captures the grandeur of were we are lucky enough to run.

The only reason I run some IMRA races, is to try and get photographed by the great John Shiels. :)

When you say 'to Saturday' does that include Saturday?

A packed opening tonight for an excellent exhibition by one of Irelands top sports photographers. This is well worth a visit, John's photos will only be on show until Saturday, so get in to see them before then. (There's a very suitable dedicated exhibition area on the top floor, where they can be appreciated to full effect).

Thought it was a great exhibition too- just the right amount of photos to ensure that people got the chance to really appreciate them one by one. I especially like the way that in every event he photographs, there is no bias towards the really good athletes(even though they often take the prettier pics:D), he equally captures everyone of all abilities giving it their best.

I'm going to pop in Saturday morning, I'll have to leave my wallet at home as I'm bound to spend lots of money when I'm in there. It's not like I even need more stuff.

Was in early doors last night. The pictures look great. Has made my mind up about getting at least one from John. Seeing them online does not do them justice, when you view them framed on a wall you can really appreciate the quality of them.

Just need to pick one now....

Jeff, if theres a picture you like that isn't on show you can still order it. Thats what I did.

Yeah, that's the plan, problem is picking one! I have one in mind.

Decision to be made however is it a bit tosserish to have a pic of me running on the wall?

Over to the good folk of boards for an opinion!

Better a pic of yourself than someone else I suppose. Again, thats what I did

If the moment means something to you, who cares what anyone else thinks.

Yes that's me admitting there's a few of me running around on my walls. Even one not taken by John S. It's still there after his visit's so I don't think he minds (too much).

The question has to be asked, who is your running crush and how does the missus feel about you putting pics of some IMRA head round the house? :)

Good point. As for you having a few of yourself difference is you are probably remembering a close fought race for a win etc. In my case it will require making a close fought battle for 39th sound exciting to guests!
