Shaoxing Rice Wine

Is anybody else having trouble picking this up? I've been to several Tescos (they used to sell it) and even braved Dunnes, to no avail. On Wednesday, I went to a specialist Asian shop and while they had shelves of rice vinegar, no wine. It seems such an odd thing that I can't find it anywhere!

No problem finding it in the Asian shops in Cork.

Hi beer revolu, the only Asian shop I know of is the one out by the magic roundabout. I assume there's a few in the English Market?

Where I got it last was in Jia Jia on Cornmarket St (coal quay) and also saw it in a new shop just around the corner on the quay.

There's a large Asian cash and carry in an industrial estate on Tramore road too.

Don't know about the one by the magic roundabout.

Tesco in Celbridge sells them at the booze aisle...

Most Asian foodstores sell Shaoxing Wine but have it hidden under the counter, so you should just ask them if it's in stock.

If anyone in Cork is looking for this, I finally found it in Wilton Tesco, as Mrs Fox says, over by the booze. They have shaoxing and also 'chinese cooking wine' which would probably work the same. However, on both attempts to buy it, the bottles won't scan. I contacted tesco.ie about it, and got a mealy mouthed reply, so on Saturday, I tried a second time, and this time got a staff member who askd me the price and tapped it in manually. The first time, the staff member literally couldn't give a sh*t.

So, it's there, it's not scanning (as of Saturday) but you might get lucky!
