    Hi all,

Found the dress of my dreams :), but the price was too high :(.

Just wondering if anyone has any good or bad experiences buying online.

Its a Sottero and Midgely dress (Adorae).

    Thanks for your help

I bought my wedding dress online...am getting married in July of this year and I absolutely love it!
Is a Sottero and Midgely dress also!
I hadnt actually even tried on the dress so was really taking a chance.....but had seen it on the S&M website and couldnt find a shop in the country that actually stocked it!

I bought mine from ebay. Absolutely delighted with it and less than 20% of the shop price. I couldn't justify spending over €1000 on a dress. I know it's not the 'real thing', but it's real enough for me!

I would imagine that it is definitely a risk though, but if you're going to go ahead with it, I think it's best to tell yourself that it won't be the end of the world if it doesn't work out. Have a plan B (my plan B was a trip to the Oxfam bridal shop to buy something off the rack)

    Best of luck

Personally, I would be very wary of doing this but I know loads of people do.

I would definetely try the dress on in a shop. I found the dresses can be very different in reality from a photo.

Whereabouts online are you looking to buy the dress?

If it's from the US, be very careful. Maggie Sottero, Sottero & Midgely, Alfred Angelo and one other designer I can't remember DO NOT allow dresses bought in the US to be shipped outside the country.

You need to factor in shipping charges (can be VERY expensive, especially if it's shipped UPS or DHL!). Don't forget to add VAT and import taxes as well. Reckon on about 40%. Get a seamstress to measure you properly, and make sure you get a really good one to alter the dress, otherwise it's money wasted.

Of course, if you know someone in the US able to take delivery for you and send it on as a gift, you can save money that way.

    Hope this helps!

There is a service in which a 3rd party company posts things from the US to you in Ireland.

I have never used this service but i know people who want make up or clothes from usa use it all the time. You buy whatever you want and get it sent to your P.O. Box number in the USA. Obviously this is a P.O. Box within this 3rd party company. The company looks at the package and then forwards it onto you.

If you are buying a few things they can pack everything into one box to be shipped to you...but they ask you of course.

If you google you should find names of companies that do this. I have never used this sort of service...but I think for a wedding dress I would (thats if the company itself did not ship outside of the USA). Like i just googled and found www.nybox.com However again i never tried this so i cannot actually recommend a website. People who have used these type of websites are normally very happy.

Works just fine for me, maybe try putting into the browser yourself or googling it?

I'm thinking about buying another dress online. Had a great experience with dressingpod.com but the dress I now want isn't on this site. The first dress was only €100 so I'm thinking I mite just use it for "trash the dress" photos or I mite sell it and try and get enough to buy a different one. The quality is amazing so I'd have no problems ordering another one.
