Speed ramps

This thread isnt a rant about speed bumps but rather about the way people drive over them. I drive in around UL a couple of times a week for college and theres a good number of speed ramps and some of them are quite big. Now I normally have to crawl over speed ramps, not necessarily because my car is low but mostly because of a fairly stiff suspension set up, but the amount of people I see everyday just hoofing it over speed ramps as if they weren't there is amazing. I mean just looking out at one here from the library and most people dont even bother slowing down unless theres someone crossing the road. Also it gets quite annoying when I slow down to go over a ramp and some c*nt flies up behind me and insists on staying right up my bumper. Bit of patience wouldnt go astray!

In fairness, it's a bit of a PITA having to slow to a crawl because the car in front has been slammed for show. I'll overtake on speed ramps if it's safe to do so.

Collapsible speed ramps are the future.

It will save a lot of hassle for all parties.

Like I said in my post its more to do with the stiff suspension than anything else...I dont have clearance issues but if I drive fast over a ramp by God i'll know all about it! TRD coilovers are a bit hard for Irish roads, even on the softest setting, but they do give good control through corners.
And hey i'd rather have people overtake me than cling onto my bumper!

I'm not sure what they are, but if they're the future then I hope they're some sort of speed ramp which only rises up if you're going over the speed limit and otherwise stays flat on the road.

Yeh they are in the initial design phase if you're going at or below the speed limit for the road the ramp will remain flat causing no discomfort for the driver.
Therafter they rise at 5deg increments for each 1km over the limit causing the driver to slow down. BR's and Chavs in general will get an automatic setting of 55deg which has been proven to make the piece of crap all noise no go car land on its nose regardless of approach speed. Some controversy however for the setting of 90deg for politicians regardless of speed.:D

Don't worry, if it's not safe to pass then I always hang back.:)

Yes thats basically what they are.

They'll be fairly expensive to roll out I imagine.

**** those, fix the potholes first. Then worry about fancy speed ramps.
