Back door of 01 Passat won't lock/unlock

    Hi,

    I've a 01 Diesel Passat (1.9) and the only way I can lock/unlock the back left door is manually. The rest of the doors are fine.

    To lock it I have to push down the button. To unlock, I have to pull the handle on the inside of the car.

    I thought I read somewhere that this may be just due to a loose wire inside the door. Does anyone have experience with this?

    The door locks themselves give trouble in these.

    You could try freeing out the lock itself. It could also be a broken wire, check where it goes between the pillar and the door, it is the most likely place for a break
