    Hi,
I think i have this sorted but i want to see what you guys have to say. My house has no landline, simply because i don't want another poxy bill around my neck. So what i'm trying to do is install a skype phone in my home, preferably without having to have the computer running to use it. I seen this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.ie/USB-Internet-VOIP-Skype-Adapter-Cordless-Home-Phone-/260720461044?pt=UK_Computing_Networking_SM&hash=item3cb42684f4 and i'm wondering if anyone else has used it. What i plan to do is connect it to my dovado router and use it with a phone, Just wondering if this is possible, can it be done with a normal phone or do i have to buy a skype phone with it to get the full benefits. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks

That will work with any standard phone.

If you're married to skype, then that's the way to go.

Alternatively any VoIP phone will do what you want. Blueface do a pay-as-you-go plan where the phone is €90 and works over your broadband connection. However most VoIP handsets don't support Skype.

That's great, thanks seamus. Just to clarify on what your saying before i buy, the product i was looking at, does not need the computer to be on and i do not need a landline? Thanks again

Nope, you don't need a landline for it. It basically connects into your internet line and logs onto skype for you, routing any calls to whatever handset you have connected to it.

Just to mention you do need a computer to configure the device, but given that you're posting online, I'll assume you have one of those contraptions :D
