Hi im flying to New York from Dublin at 10.45am. I would hope to fly to dublin with ryanair from Cork arriving at 08.05. I would be checking in a bag. 2 hours and 40 minutes seems plenty to me.

Considering i will be having to collect the bag, re check in, go through security and then do the us customs in Dublin instead of new york do I have enought time?

Going for a week long stag taking in paddys day so will be out non stop but could possibly bring a smaller bag and do some shopping when I arrive.

Remember to check which terminal you're flying out of. I presume if you're talking about customs, you're going through T2, so factor in that you'll be landing in T1 (probably pier D), then have a trek to the arrivals area and from there a walk to T2.

Don't forget 8:05 is the time the flight lands, NOT the time it reaches its stand!

You'd probably be fine, but it may be tight.

cheers for the reply, anyone fly to new york recently and know how long customs takes?

Not too long. You check in for the flight first anyway, so once you make it to that stage, you'll be fine.

I agree that it will be tight.

I assume you are talking about the 1045 EI flight to JFK. They advise 3 hours before departure check-in last time I checked.

So you land at 0805. Get to the baggage belt at 0825ish You have to exit to arrivals then go up to departures in T1 (5 mins), follow the signs to T2 (5 min fast walk) Check in in T2 (EI desks will be the closest to T1!) So best case is check-in in 2 hours before departure. Should be fine.

You then need to go through security, down to US CBP, get processed and be at the gate for 1015-1030.

Assuming the FR flight is bang ontime or early I would guess you to be OK. You better be the first off that plane though!!
I'm not sure if the US CBP requires you to check in any earlier than previously.

ryanair flight is a tenner vs train ticket hotel and taxis. thinking buy some clothes over there so as not to need to check a bag in on ryanair flight
