How to transfer Hi8 vhs tapes to DVD or computer

    My sony analogue camcorder is bunched (can't playback tapes) & im looking to find out HOW i can transfer my old Hi8 vhs tapes to dvd or onto pc (windows xp).
    Any ideas will be gratefully appreciated.

    You're going to have to be able to play the tapes first.
    Get you're camcorder repaired or borrow one.

    Failing that, seek out a professional company who can do it for you.

    VHS or Hi8?
    I bought a secondhand Sony Digital 8. It plays my Samsung Analogue 8mm tapes via Firewire to laptop. Better Digitising than any PC capture device.

    It can also take composite in rather than tape. Maybe it does S-video in also, can't remember.


    We also have a €90 Dunnes/Beond/Plustron DVD recorder and at HQ setting isn't bad for recording of VHS or Sky pay TV channel to make DVD which them can be read by PC.
