    hello need help getting insurance on a 2001 nissan silvia spec r, havent bought it yet but am close to it, and want to sort out the insurance aspect first of all, my stats are age 23, 4 years ncb, full licence and 4 penalty points, just got an online quote from coverme.ie €2200, the quote didnt specify whether the silvia is a spec s or spec r, also i know that quinn, my current insurer will refuse if i ask for a quote now, but will likely insure me at a high price when i buy the car, anyone else in similar circumstances insured on this car and who with??

    Having owned one there is no difference between spc s/r in insurance as so many were insured improperly.

    Expect insurance to be crazy on these as insurance costs are climbing.

    Not entirely true. I went on to Quinn online there to check the cost of switching from the Levin to an S15 (23, 1 year NCB). 30 euro extra to change to a 01 Spec S, no quote on a 00 Spec R (no option of 01 Spec R on their page).
    Bit odd as they used to quote me on Spec R's.
    (Currently paying 960 euro TPFT)
