    Can someone please clarify when this should be turned on?

    Some say when cruizing on motorway, some say all the time.
    Which is it?

    It's like an optional extra high gear. You can leave it on, or use it for cruising. When it's on, and you are slowing down, you can switch it off for a bit of extra engine braking.

    Experiment with it, and decide what you prefer.
