    Hi

I downgraded my brothers Packard Bell EasyNote MH36 from Vista to XP Pro today but i'm having awful trouble finding the appropiate drivers. Why have PB stopped support for XP on this machine?

I've found sound and chipset but i still can't find the WLAN and VC drivers. WLAN is RTL8187B if that helps.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I used drivermax a few times.

I've ALWAYS had trouble getting drivers for Packard Bells.. I usually just google any numbers on the sides of the laptop, and look up spec sheets to try to find the models of hardware devices used in them.. Can be time consuming but with a bit of persistence you'll get there.

Not to be an ass: but it would have probably been smarter to have thought about that before downgrading from Vista to XP. Despite the little greivances with Vista, there is very little point in going back to XP except to satisfy someone's Neo-Luddism.

A far better option if you want to get off vista is to get onto windows 7, which takes everything vista was and fixes the hell out of it.

I agree, Windows 7 would be a better option particularly if you are not sure where to look for drivers, downgrading to Windows XP can be challenging if you dont know where to look for drivers, Packard Bell dont do support; if you want a laptop supported by its vendor buy from Dell or HP, I have a Dell Latitude D520 thats 5 years old running windows 7 and I can get all the drivers by entering the service tag on the support website

Also be prepared for the reality that newer hardware will likely not have compatible drivers for Windows XP at all: Hardware manufacturers are at the point where there is little to no point in developing and releasing such drivers.
