Windows Update has killed my wireless! Please Help!

    So basically,

I got the most recent update, and once it restarted my comp it seems to have destroyed something

From the moment my laptop loads up it takes about 10 minutes to connect. Then once it says your connected, I go to load a webpage. However it takes about 5 minutes of reloading the page before it will actually load. Keeps saying server connection timed out(Have tried multiple browsers).

Then once it actually seems like I have a connection and everything is grand, a yellow exclamation will appear over my internet icon, 5 minutes of waiting and I will have a steady connection. Then it will start taking a lot longer to load pages and everything will time out again.

I have tried this both wired and wireless and the same results.

My internet is Eircom 8meg(The Next Gen thing they were advertising). I have been through all possible troubleshooting with them(MTUs,ports, ping etc...) and everything is ok.

It is only MY LAPTOP which is having the issue in my house. I have an Xbox and 3 other laptops in the house are connected with no connection/timeout issues what so ever. I have tried connection, with no other laptops on, with 1, then 2, all its the same result everytime.

I have tried a system restore but it still has not solved anything.

Would anyone out there know what to do to fix this? It is driving me mad!!!

    Thanks in advance.

What operating system are you using .. and have you any idea what the name of the update was.??

If it's just slow there may be something else using the bandwidth ?

If it was a software/update issue, surely restore would have fixed it?

I would have said try reinstalling the drivers for the wireless card and the Ethernet port, it's strange that both are affected...

With the name of the update there might be a kb article up with some known issues arising from the update.

Bloody windows update, I always give those updates a cooling-off period of 7 days incase there are any mental issues. The old Microsoft mantra of "release software now, fix it later" doesn't exactly fill me with confidence!!

    Its Windows 7 premium.

I dont know what the update was called? Could you tell me how to find out, I know MS just usually attatch a KB article to their updates

I have deleted both the wireless and the eternet driver and reinstalled.

My bandwidth is fine(I have spent hours on the phone making sure it wasnt an Eircom problem) and every other device in the house works perfectly when connected online.

The only other recommendation I have found is too enter REGEDIT and try find the update there and delete it

I'm so lost here, but many thanks for your replies folks.

generally a system restore would fix this type of issue

But you can view the updates in Win7
go to Control Panel >> Windows Updates and click on View History

This will show you the list of windows updates with the relevant KB#
