Just checking if anyone could recommend a hotel in Amsterdam... budget is around 300 for 2, for 2 nights. Double Room.

I was checking online and there are a few places but from what I hear stars mean very little and there are alot of dodgy hotels around the place.

I suppose as central as possible would be good too.

    Thanks.

Its been asked before in this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056144683&highlight=amsterdam

Last time I was in Amsterdam me and the missus decided to splash out on a decent hotel. We stayed at the SAS Radisson Blu http://www.radissonblu.com/hotel-amsterdam

I can't remember the price but it was a special rate and the room and hotel were lovely. It was centrally located with Dam Square only a few minutes away by foot.

Probably best to try and get it via a site like Hotels.com or lastminute.ie either way shop around a few of the hotel broker sites.

If you're a couple then can recommend here - www.the-collector.nl . It's near the Concert Hall, on the bus route to the airport and within walking distance of Museumplein. They only have three rooms but they're huge! Breakfast is on a self-service basis. It's a bit of a walk though to Dam Square though so don't know if it's central enough for you, but we really enjoyed staying there.

If you're into shopping can really recommend Utrechtstraat - it's away from the tourist trail but it has a great range of shops, restaurants and cafes.

We always stay in the IBIS stopera. Always good value and you know the accommodation is decent. Ive stayed in some really weird hotels there, it feels like you are literally walking up the walls, the stairs are that steep....

cant beat an IBIS. There is one nearer the major train station but i reckon it would be too noisy. Course you could stay on the floating hotel moored near the station....

I have stayed here in the past as well and it is good and functional and within walking distance of the train station. It is a little further away from the attractions like Dam Square but as its Amsterdam it is just a slightly further walk away.
