My megane(1st problem so stop there:)).2004 Year.
Petrol cap release has stopped working, probably the motor but the question i want to ask if i remove the little plastic catch so the cap would be able to be opened manually at all times-would it pass the NCT test.
    Any ideas...Thanks

    Ken,
That sounds like its the solenoid is gone. Can get access to it in the boot. Same solenoid as used for door locks, I think.

Reckon your spot on with that. Reckon a lot of vw's and seats use the same one so could get one from a breakers but dont need to lock the petrol cap really so would be easier just to leave it open. It is held closed by the hinge so it wouldnt flap open. NCT should pass it i think!!!
