    Hi all,
I passed my theory test 6 months ago. Now I want to apply for driving test.
I know little bit driving, How many lessons do we need before taking up the test.
At present I don't have my own car. Is it compulsory to have my own car in order to pass my test.
I am thinking to take 10 lessons and take the test.
What are the chances to pass.
    Please share your opinions.
    Thanks

Good idea to book 10 lessons with an ADI.
He/She will take you through the process step by step.
It is not compulsory to have your own car, you can use a car supplied by your instructor, or you can get a loan of a car.

The new laws are not in yet. As from the 2nd April 2011 they propose to bring in the new laws.

The first of the restrictions that will require a driver who has passed the driving test to show 'R plates', will be a reduced blood alchol level. It will come into effect in september. The RSA have said this will not be required of anyone who passes a driving test before then.

The 4th of april is when compulsory lessons begin for new learner permit holders.

10 lessons with an ADI are a good idea. You said you don't have a car though, do you have access to one? The key to passing the test is practise practise practise. You need to be getting out and driving around between those 10 lessons. 10 lessons with no practise would not be sufficient to pass. It's not impossible, I'm sure, but you don't just want to pass the test, you'll want to know how to drive - properly. The only way to get that knowledge is through experience being behind the wheel.
