    Hi all! :)
    Need some info on this!!..

Im 18 and I want to do a childcare course level 5 preferably and in distance learning due to my location and lack of transport, but i dont have my leaving cert, so most requirements state to need leaving cert or level 4 qualifaction in childcare. i cant find a suitable level 4 course anywhere! only so much googling one can do! Is there any fetac level 5 courses anyone knows of that i can do without needing level 4 or leaving cert? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated :)

    peetreet!

you don't need a LC to do the L5 FETAC course but some places put LC as a requirment. Call up the place you are interested in and speak directly to them even if their advertising says a LC is required.

My friend is in a similar situation but got a different answer when she spoke directly. They would prefer in most cases that people do a LC before going on to a PLC

distance learning might be a difficulty as most state funded PLC's are full time and the courses which officer similar or the same awards cost a lot more in many cases.

also be aware that UK (England + Wales only) awards levels don't exactly fit in to the same award system - going from memory UK L3 is approx L5 in Ireland but some may be L4 in Ireland and the college might still advertise it as a L5.

anyhow good luck in your search
