As you know that Steve Jobs took another medical leave of absence earlier this year without expected return date. National Enquirer has published some photos showing Steve Jobs while going to breakfast with his wife before going to the Stanford Cancer Center in California.

It says that Steve Jobs now is in a terminal condition and that no more than 6 weeks of life. Anyway there is noting to do but hope that these news aren't true :( [via Enquirer]

I knew he was sick but i never knew how bad it was. Given this is the national enquirer so it might be a little exagerated especially about the six weeks. However given his weight loss over the last few years and his medical leave from Apple it certainly does not look good. :(

It has been confirmed today that Steve Jobs is receiving treatment for cancer in the Stanford Cancer Center in Palo Alto, California. RadarOnine reported today that it’s the same Clinic where Hollywood Actor the Late Patrick Swayze was undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer in April 2009.

There has been no formal confirmation of what type of cancer Jobs is being treated for or if he is being treated at all for cancer from the Apple spokes team. Jobs was not forthcoming about the reason he took a medical leave of absence.

Photographs of the 55-year-old Apple CEO were taken on Febuary the 8th outside the clinic and are reported to be published by the The National Enquirer tomorrow morning.

In one photo, Jobs was getting out of his car a day after a full day of work at the company’s Cupertino campus. The photos show Mr Jobs looking painfully frail and weak, with his jeans and dark top hanging loosely on his 6ft 2in, thin body.

Jobs has previously withheld information on his health, such as when he was treated for a form of pancreatic cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in 2009, something that worries Apple investors who feel the company’s future rests in his visionary leadership.

The Daily Mail spoke to Dr Jerome Spunberg, a certified Oncologist, who said: “Mr Jobs is most likely getting outpatient chemotherapy at Stanford because the cancer has recurred.”

Another consultant, Dr. Gabe Mirkin, a physicist with over fourty years experience, said: “He is terminal. What you are seeing is extreme muscle wasting from calorie depravation, most likely caused by cancer. He has no muscle left in his buttocks, which is the last place to go. He definitely appears to be in the terminal stages of his life from these photos. I would be surprised if he weighed more than 130lb.”

The National Enquirer, who initially reported the news today (to be published tomorrow), talked to critical-care physician Dr. Samuel Jacobson, who said, “Judging from the photos, he is close to terminal. I would say he has six weeks.” That said, given the reliability of The National Enquirer, waiting for further news before jumping to conclusions is advised.

We’ve done a little digging into Dr. Samuel Jacobson. Jacobson appears to be a Florida based pulmonologist (breathing doctor) – not Oncologist. Which would naturally make you wonder just how qualified he is to diagnose someone via a photo, especially outside of his speciality.

We sincerely hope he’s wrong and wish Jobs all the best.

The National Enquirer isn't remotely credible. They don't just exaggerate things a little, they completely make sh1t up. There's nothing to say these pictures are recent or haven't been doctored. And then there's whole issue of a doctor making a life-expectancy diagnosis on the basis of a photograph of someone wearing baggy jeans.

In the meantime, Jobs is meeting Obama today to discuss the tech industry and the economy.

In fairness though it would ad up. There are other sources saying he has been spotted going to and from the Standford Cancer center. Its not only the national enquirer.
Trying to find the link on twitter now

EDIT: Photos taken by the national enquirer and RadarOnline confirmed he is receiving cancer treatment for Pancreatic cancer. He had a liver transplant 3yrs ago

All we know is that Jobs has been spotted at this centre. It doesn't mean his cancer has returned. And it certainly doesn't mean he has 6 weeks to live. Any blogsite that references the National Enquirer cannot be trusted.

But all these rumours are probably going to devastate Apple's stock, and dying or not, Jobs will probably have to step down as CEO before long.

Started falling this morning around 10am, but seems to be climbing again. Assumedly because people got to the line 'National Enquirer' in the story :p

I really don't care for threads speculating on an individuals health regardless of who they are. If Jobs people put out a press release then fair enough but let's not give any credence to gossip from rags like the national enquirer.

I just tried to share a story, no need to be a prick.

I think you were right to share the story, hard and all to takes it is, the beauty of Boards is that you HAVE to read a thread if you don't want. And that never once did you speculate on his health I would think an apology is due.

Yeah he'd every right to post it...

Can't take anything that national enquirer says seriously but I suppose it's possible, he's sickly looking, shares in the company could/would be rocked by an announcement like that, so an announcement wouldn't be made public.

National Enquirer, the paper of record ;)

However there might be some truth to it. We'll see if there is a press release on it.

The stock didn't take the nosedive everyone expected after he announced his latest leave of absence. The markets know that Apple will go on without Jobs, if/when he goes it will be a massive loss to the company of course, but it won't be the least bit unexpected. If he is terminally ill (and that's a big if) then both Apple and the markets will be prepared for when he leaves. I think there was a view in the past that Apple wouldn't have a hope without Jobs but I don't believe that to be the case anymore: http://www.techradar.com/news/computing/apple/why-apple-is-in-safe-hands-with-tim-cook-501288

I agree. Jobs was important back in the early 2000's when the ipod was developed into apple being able to stand on its own two feet (of which Steve Jobs probably built).

Didn't he and other tech ceo's meet Obama today, can't be that bad if he's dining in the White House.

Threads of this nature have been closed immediately on other sections of boards.ie owing to the basic nature of respecting the individuals and/or their families. Just because the person here is a multi-billionaire and one of the most powerful people in tech shouldn't give us the nod to indulge the likes of the goulish fascination that the National Enquirer peddles. There's merit in discussing the direction that Apple will take without Jobs, but I don't feel that ****e from the NE is the context in which in should takes place. Besides, is the Apple Media Devices thread the appropriate place for discusssion on this or will we have Hogzy posting articles on the discovery of BatBoy?

Yep - I presume you've seen the film Men In Black? The Tabloids are how the MiBs keep track of what's really happening. He does wear an awful lot of black, doesn't he ..?

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music.
