I know there's nothing anyone can actually do about the lack of snow, but I just thought I would post here looking for some signs of hope, or maybe even just sympathy.

By all accounts the snow is pretty sketchy in Austria at the moment. Check out the brown hillsides and snow-free roofs in Westendorf - http://www.feratel.com/en/webcams-weather/austria/tirol/westendorf.html. That particular camera seems to be jamming a bit, but when it is working you can see loads of slopes with little or no snow. I gather they are managing to make some snow overnight, but obviously they can only make enough to cover the main runs. Next week, with midterm, those main slopes are going to be absolutely jammers.

Does anyone have any words of hope ? Is there a huge dump of snow due in the next few days ?

Currently a light dusting this week in most resorts but temps are dropping.

The big problem has been that it has been so warm even at night that they could not make it for the past two weeks.

Most resorts will be Dust on Crust for the next week or two unless they get a big dump but piste conditions should be ok

+1 for snow. But in Val Thorens. Lots of snow forecast, but not much if any has fallen. :-(

How depressing to read "0cm snow expected"

I'm off to Soll in Austria on the 26th Feb myself and was wondering the same. There hasn't been any snowfall since the 26th of Jan over there but looks like there will be a fresh fall around tuesday onwards as the temps drop over there.

Here is the link to Wesendorf - looking good for next week:

I've been watching various snow forecasts (yr.no, netweather.tv etc.) the past 3 or 4 weeks. Unfortunately, even though most have forecast snow in VT, there hasn't been much at all.

Lots of snow forecast in the coming week but the forecasts keep changing so much it's not looking good! Next Tue there's a nice snow fall due, but I'll guess we'll see.

What other websites are people using for forecasts? Cheers.

I was in Saalbach last week and the snow is seriously dodgy. ZERO off piste. Some pistes had a lot of brown patches (big brown patches). From middle station down the snow is slushy. Hinterglemm was a disaster. More brown that white!! Leogang was in great shape though and it has some lovely slopes. It bloody well rained as were leaving!!!

    i've been watching
    http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/de/bayern/oberstdorf/forecast15.aspx
& it's looking good for my arrival in Oberstdorf (28 feb) I just hope it's accurate.

J2SKI's 7 day forecast looks even better :)

15 cm last night in Soldeu Andorra. Piste conditions very good due mostly to their massive snow making facility being topped up by regular but small snow falls. Still waiting for that big dump.

Wooh - it looks like it's snowing in Soll & about to snow in Brixental. And there's a nasty looking cloud heading down the valley in Westendorf which looks very snowful.

God, I love live streaming cams (when they show snow).

j2ski is forcecasting snow next week at St. Anton...However looking at the st. Anton Arlberg website it says the following

''...On Sunday, further patches of thick clouds will rapidly approach from the west, however, contrary to expectations, they will bring hardly any precipitation...'':(

Looks like the temp is dropping and snow is coming, with heavy falls next week.
We are off on the 28th :pac:

If you were going to the Pyrénées, you'd be happy, loads of snow and more expected tomorrow. The Pyrénées usually get more snow than the Alps, but the season is shorter because it is further south.

10 cm new snow with zero wind in Soldeu this eve and still snowing. Conditions on the mountain are excellent as they have being for most of the season.

Quick overview for EuropeOn Piste condtions range from Fair - Excellent in most resortsSlopes under 800 Meters are suffering with as little as 40cm Coverage. But temps are down and the Snow Cannons are on.Off Piste Rages from Crap - OK! So basically if you like off piste and you are going skiing this week :( If you like Piste skiing you should be ok :)

Would agree with that. Back from Zell 2 weeks now. It didn't snow while we were there. The snow cannons did a good job each night. By the end of the afternoons the south facing slopes were slushy so if you can, try and avoid them. There is always Kaprun up the road too which I never made it to but that will have good snow!

Soldeu has had 30 cm new snow over monday and tuesday. Piste conditions are excellent. Available Off piste is pretty extensive and varies from heavy to chopped up with some north facing fesh pow. More snow and temperture drop forecast for sunday night.
