Ive done a bit of searching but its a popular topic with lots of threads that degrade rapidly into badgering so i though it better to ask a question or two.

Is anyone aware of any statistics around clamping and the appeals process?

What percentage of "clampings" are appealed and what percentage of those are successful etc? Granted there may not be hard data but if you have any expereince or opinion based on fact id be glad to hear it.

Also if anyone knows the exact or close to exact process the clampers apply when they find a valid illegally parked car I would appreciate learning more.
For example, pictures taken, reg recorded, fine issued, data-entry etc. And what technology they apply would be useful also.

FYI - its not a personal vendetta, i dont drive in town, merely research for an idea growing. Also i do plan to talk to them directly but would like to know more first.

    Thanks All.

I have some friends in what's left of the building trade, and they assure me the best appeals process is an angle grinder which, evidently, has an almost 100% success rate. :D

From time to time (yearly) they issue a statistical report, ask the press office in the council or customerservices@dublincity.ie or traffic@dublincity.ie

For Dublin City Council about 1% are appealed and about half of those are somewhat successful (partial or full refund).

Cheers, was hoping for more than 1% though, theres not much of a business case there then.

Only if it encapsulates the forensics of clamping.
